I've added a krim shield to my collection.

Been looking for a while for a nice one of these. Had a shot at this one and made a deal on it. It arrived today and I wanted to post some photos. A huge thanks to Big Ned for his help on the hunt, a gentleman whom I am much indebted to!

Thanks Harry! I agree 100% on Ned. He's a man with good taste and a sense of humor. I really enjoy having him around here.

As for me, it may have been best if I hadn't bought one of these. Now that I have one in hand, I'm going to want to collect the others. These are really neat little items.

    Hi Scott,

First, thanks for the kind words, but it really isn't necessary, any help I can give a fellow addict is a pleasure, and an enjoyable part of the hobby for me.

The shield looks even better in your photo's, beautifully patinated, a fine unmessed with reverse, it's a keeper for sure. I had a feeling that once you had one then the bug might bite. It's gonna get more and more expensive though as you progress through each of the respective campaigns you know....

    Regards, Ned.

We shall stick it out to the end, but we are getting weaker of course, and the end cannot be far.
It seems a pity, but I do not think I can write more. R. SCOTT.

Thanks Jonathan! I think I recall seeing yours, the heer with the immaculate finish and the "12" written on the back. That is a lovely shield for sure. Congrats! We can weep together at the prices of the next ones in the line of our obsession.

I know you did. And you encouraged me every step of the way! I have to admit, I knew these were neat from the photos, but in hand they have such a uniqueness about them and are just solid feeling awards that evoke a "wow" moment. Plus, the way they were worn, the fact they were based on milestones in the war, the excellent designs, what's not to like? They seem to embody all the aspects of the hobby we all like, in one little package.

    Hi Scott,

Yes some of the prices of the rarer shields can bring a tear to your eye!
But they are very impressive as we have recently and thankfully discovered!

    Jonathan.
