I think I am going to have to holiday in the Canaries...where are all these good badges coming from.
I think your shield is a good unknown maker (3.5) but that minty bronze colour doesn't seem to go with other examples I have seen and the flat straight cut pins allthough not of great concern are another variant I haven't seen.
Is the shield magnetic?

Hi Dough, here in the Canaries, max you ll get a nice sunny Spain nice week holiday, good food and very nice beaches, I guarantee, but unfortunately not much TR militaria, actually, once I bought a SA dagger on an antique shop, here in Gran Canaria, but apart from that, nothing, I always look at the militaria web EK Eisernen Kreuz I think its top, dont know if you already new about it though, regarding the magnetic shield, I will ask the seller and will come back to you, many thanks and regards, Juan

Hi Doug,

Got to agree with most everything you say, a nice 3.5 unknown maker design. I have no problem with the chocolate finish, I've seen a few genuine ones the same, and the lovely heavy convex shape also points to this being typical of this bronzed sheet steel type.

The pins were the thing that caught my eye as well. They're not a type I have seen before for this maker with the wide, chunky, square ended flat prongs, but as they used at least another 3 types of hardware fitting variants (a: Narrow flat wire, pointed. b: Round wire, blunt ended. c: Four integral tabs on the shields edge). Therefore, I don't see any reason why there cannot be a 4th variation, as the rest of the shield is 100% correct for my mind. This for me is an uncommon shield with a VERY uncommon rear set up.

Ah, there you go Juan.
I thought it would be magnetic and as Ned rightly pointed out it is the sheet metal version with a bronze coating.

And it wasn't too bad a price either.
