Article about: Hi guys, I would like to ask you before buying this Kuban shield if it is good one or not. Till now I have no shield in my collection and would like to start collect it. Any opinion is welco

    I would like to ask you before buying this Kuban shield if it is good one or not. Till now I have no shield in my collection and would like to start collect it. Any opinion is welcome.

    I would be careful. I'm not liking the "A" and the "3". It also
    looks like the top line above "Kuban" is touching the wreath, which it should not. There are a number of other differences that i can highlight if necessary. I only own one and it does not conform to it. However there are probably variations that I'm not aware of so let's see if others disagree or confirm my views. Check out mine below

    Michael's right. This is a copy of the type 5.4 shield that is most often found with the completely bogus "JFS" marked backing paper that's also got an LDO stamp on it usually in red ink.

    Addendum: Michael's example is a type 5.1 shield as stated in his link, and is not really compatible for comparison as it's a different design.

    thank you very much for your help. And this one was declared by seller as original piece. Look like it will not be so easy to find good one.

    Hi Mike, not a good one as the guy's have stated. The "A" is not correct in it's design as pointed out. If you are in Europe I think Mario at Hiscoll Military Antiques has a few good ones at the moment if that helps! Leon.
