Re: Lorient shield opinions......
I don't think anyone is being jealous or ignorant, there is simply no evidence as to which particular Lorient shield is original or which is fake. If you're happy that yours in original then so be it but please don't try and convince anyone here that it is when there is so much doubt surrounding the piece. You posted your shield for opinions and opinions you got, whether or not you accept them is your choice.
Why not post a pic of the badge in Ailsby's book? As Glenn has pointed out, this collector and author's credentials are not particularly good for the reasons mentioned above.
Was your badge issued to and worn by someone?

Re: Lorient shield opinions......
hi,
well the problem is just that everyone who say me it's a copy can't explain it.
i think i will try to contact Mr Ailsby...
here is the page from his book.
His book is a good help for collectors i think.
And thanks for help.
Regards.

Re: Lorient shield opinions......
No-one here has said it's a copy, nor have they said it's original because we simply don't know what an original looks like. As we've said before, it is down to what the individual believes is original. You cannot say with absolute 100% certainty your example is original and on the same level, no-one can argue it's a fake. All we can do is look at your piece and give honest opinions which have been given. Just because the same badge is pictured in a book doesn't make it a real piece. Fakes can get printed into reference books too.
They are controversial.
No-one knows what an original looks like.
They are faked.
They are made very crudely from any old piece of metal.
There are subtle design differences.

Re: Lorient shield opinions......
Go to Wehrmacht Awards and punch in 'Lorient Shield' on their search facility. There's plenty of examples, alleged good and bad to see, plus sensible and interesting posts as well. Then you may get your answer. But don't come here accusing members of being jealous or ignorant just because you are desperate to have your shield verified as good, that is bad manners old boy.
