Luftwaffe Beobachter Abzeichen

I set up at my monthly militaria show at the AmVets Post 2 in Jackson N.J. and this Luftwaffe Beobachterabzeichen happened to come my way in a half cash/half trade offer, along with several other pieces, for one of my items. Please view this badge carefully and your thoughts are always appreciated. Maker indicated is Assmann & Sons.

Hi Richard,

Unfortunately this is a poorly cast fake badge.

It does not resemble a zinc (or tombak for that matter) Assmann badge in any way. The hinge, pin, catch, makers mark are all wrong and the pitting on the reverse is a good indicator of a poor cast fake.

Here is another with clearer photos, note the die flaws on the back of the wreath and eagle are identical.

Thanks gentlemen, I too had my suspissions but was not as familiar with Assmann badges as I would like to have been. I accepted it anyway, just in case, as one never knows when they hit the jackpot. Thanks again
