Looks fine to me Tony and an Arno Wallpach as you say.
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....

Hi Tony,
The Erdkampfabzeichen is known as an 'Unknown maker' type, the AWS version had a different rear set up, noticably the catch being a sheet metal type not integral. The above badge is the most often found type of fake, but the copies are extremely difficult to spot from originals. I would personally steer clear of this one as the eagles detailing looks a bit soft to me, and I would prefer one that is less contentious, but it's your call.
The HSF badge by Orth looks like a good one to me, the detail and set up appear to be right in my eyes and the remaining gilt finish on the obverse has that Orth 'look' imo.

Just had a look around regarding the possible Walpach Erdkampfabzeichen and have to agree the design is legitimate for that maker; so my apologies on that!
But I noted that the cloud and lightning flash on the two accepted originals are finished with a dark blue paint, not as the above one appears to be black. Is this a concern as the badge shown is the most often type that is faked and as I said previously, convincingly so? Could anyone point out to me what to look for to discern good from bad?

Indeed a good Arno Wallpach...Here's mine for comparison. I've familiarized myself with the hardware on these to tell good from bad...
