Medaille zur Erinnerung an den 1. Oktober 1938

Hello folks.

Managed to scoop a couple of unexpected prizes this week. It's not often on eBay that you see original German stuff come up. And whenever you do, it's more often than not buried under a sea of utter junk. I was thus very pleased to be able to grab a pair of original German decorations that I've been after for some time. This is the first of the two.

I present, a pretty decent Sudetenland Medal. It is by no means a mint condition piece, with some light oxidisation and one small rust spot, and a few scuffs to the outer rim. One of the two thread loops holding the clasp to the ribbon has also come away, leaving it attached but hanging. The latter doesn't concern me all that much, as it's displayed in a Riker case with my other combat awards and is held in place behind the ribbon.
It's not a perfect one, but it's a nice example and I had it for a very reasonable price. The damage is superficial, and should I ever desire to do so it will not be an expensive medal to replace.

I'm now on the search for an Anschluss medal to display with it. They seemed to be all over the place until I started looking for one!

Thank you. The two cost me £65. Not too much less than the market price of both combined, but still a good bargain!

I've added quite a bit to the collection this month, especially considering I've started setting aside cash for the militaria fairs in the summer. I'm actually a bit short on money now as a result of my impulse buying, but I can't say I have any regrets! Despite its flaws, I'm very fond of this one.
