    It's very nice, but the rust on the hinge area would make this not mint IMO.
    I'm pretty sure it did not come out of the factory this way.

    It's not rust Ralph.

    All parts of this award are tombak,(non-ferrous),with the exeption of the globes that are made of aluminum .Probably just staining from the soldering process.

    I have to agree with Sascha.This is probably one of the nicest looking tombak Schwerin awards I have seen.It retains nearly all of it's original gilding and "blackening" on the mainpin,which suggests it is possibly unworn ?

    I would say,near mint.



    Lovely badge and congratulations on getting a superb example.

    Maybe a better choice of words would have been "corrosion".
    I do agree, a very nice "near mint" example.

    This would look wonderful laying on a black velvet background. (or dark blue). It is a nice one
