The "Fo" made badge has a completely replaced pin assembly. These should be cast in for the hinge and catch.

According to my reference material these badges were made with both the same kind of setup as shown here above AND with "cast in" fittings - in other words two different variants. I might be wrong here though - Kriegsmarine badges is not my forte.

Hi Kenneth, you are correct.

But looking at the badge, I think something "fishy" is going on around the hinge and catch. (I have the "cast in" version in my collection.) The version with this style of pin assembly usually has a cartouche around the hinge in which it is set in place. Also it has a "+" marking just above the "Fo" makers mark.
