Nice early Westwall

Article about: This is the type of item that makes this hobby so much fun for me. I was at a Saarbrücken flea market rummaging through a box of junk a guy had and this was on the bottom. A nice early bronz

    Is it gold plated? Can you describe the history of these two medals? I have never heard of them. Interesting.

    i dont remember all the descrisption , i remember only in reference white only two made for the chief of westwall labourer ....long time ....but LOOK the back badge !!!!!

    I may be wrong but i thought a few early medals were made of brass. I'm not sure though. Stewy

    Stewy, you are right. There were two issues of this medal. The first was made of bronzed brass. The second issue was made in 44 during the rebuilding of Reich defenses and it was made of zinc.
    The medal I started the thread with is an early bronzed brass issue.

    I agree with you Johnnie ! the early brass is beter , some zinc medal the brass plated not remove and need scale for see early or late

    is that a Hitler signature on the bottom reverse on the gold plated West Wall medal?

    I have not seen this version of this medal before but I would say the signature would be that of Konstantin Hierl, head of the RAD?

    Thats not Adolf Hitlers signature but that of Konstantin Hierl...
