You guys all have some great ones. I can't wait to join the club!
I asked him about the condition, and he said that nothing was broken, and that it was very nice, so I'm guessing it's not a dug badge. I can't wait to go see it!
I asked him how much he had on it, and he said "$195"... and my heart skipped a beat.
How did it turn out Mo?
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
Well gentlemen,
I went down to the shop today and reserved it. I have to bring the other half to him next week.
When I saw it, I was very pleased to find that it was a FIRST pattern, not a SECOND pattern as it was described. The material felt very nice and tombaky. Nothing was broken and it had most of its finish. I took a crash course on S-boot badges the other day, and I am 99% certain that this is a good one. I asked him why he was selling it at such a low price, and he said that he "paid about right for it". This is why he is my favorite dealer.
Anyway, here are a couple of photos. I am very sorry about the quality. I had to use the ersatz camera today...
What do you fellows think?
Mo, it looks good but I have my doubts about this one. It is very close to an original badge but there are many subtle differences in details between this and known and accepted original badges.

I just made another comparison and I now see the details you are talking about, particularly the elongated swastika, the wider lines on the boat, and the crooked maker's mark. Is this a common variation or does this make it a fake badge?
