Re: RARE Genuine German WW2 Lorient Sleeve Badge
I don't think anyone can tell you what a real one actually looks like. There are a couple of threads here on the forum about them, look here and here.

All I know Morris is that originals are stamped brass sheet ( this one looks like that ) but they are thin on the ground.......

Re: RARE Genuine German WW2 Lorientschild.
I believe this piece to be a very bad copy. The body is exteremely out of proportion. The trunk is 1/3 longer than it should be, the legs much to short, common mistakes by an amature artist.
Not for me.

Re: RARE Genuine German WW2 Lorientschild.
Hi all,
I introduce myself, I am a collector of French Indochina period and Aeronautics of this period.
I regularly watch your forum but am not at all expert on your theme.
I live 30 km from Lorient (in front of the sea), I bought this badge and a poster of the Liberation with a widow, around Pontivy (50km from Lorient).
Here is a picture of the poster:
I am at your disposal for any information.
Best Regards.
Axel.

A poorly made copy lacking the correct detail found in an original.

Re: RARE Genuine German WW2 Lorientschild.
Welcome to the forum Axel and thank you for introducing yourself.
Unfortunately, these shields are very very hard to authenticate and most collectors steer well clear of them as originals are extremely rare and to be honest, hard to identify. There are many copies of these shields made from many different materials and with many differences between them.
I can't say with any certainty if your shield is an original or a fake but I know the most likely odds. Bob is a long time and knowledgeable collector and with respect, many years experience so his opinion is one to consider seriously.
