My parents bought me this medal for my birthday when I was 18. I have always liked it but never seen lots of them around.

I was quite lucky as a child, my father was never too interested in my hobby but if there was something that he thought I might like or he knew someone had then he would help in getting it. I got a Kriegsmarine dagger with knot and straps for my 18th Birthday and a live firing k.98 for my 21st, so all in all I have done pretty well over the years from my parents. Weh ever my parents went out they would ask friends etc if they had anything from the German Occupation of the Island which has certainly helped me along the way.

Very nice. I was offered one of these a long time ago, when I had just started collecting German awards, and I declined because I thought it was a fantasy award. haha
Lucky you.
Well, I should not really complain; knowing my interest in knives from when I was a kid, my dad and other family members bought knives in various countries they travelled to and gave them to me.
A nice award and under rated IMO.
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
