From the pics my first though was a discoloured silver strangely enough. I can see it being more gold than bronze (bronze's were darker). In hand you'd have a much better idea than me. I guess we may never be 100% sure. I really like it. Stewy

Great story, I really like it. I always thought ground finds were interesting thinking how it could have gotten there and who's it was. I spent years looking for American Civil War relics metal detecting but I wish I lived in Europe. Youtube has some vids of some fantastic TR finds.
