    Came across this numbered SA badge for $30. Didn't know they were ever numbered. Thinking about buying. What are your thoughts on authenticity?

    Nice genuine example. The early models were numbered.

    Yours is a Type 2 SA Sportbadge, Not SA Defense badge.

    I've been looking for a bit but can't find the difference berween a sports badge and the defense badge. Need to do some more digging. But thanks a lot for the great info.

    Thanks for your comments. I appreciate it.
    The difference is really only in the inscription on the back. I'm not really well versed in the particulars but it is my understanding that these were "owned" by the SA, thus as the responsibility of issuing departments changed so did the inscriptions.

    This is a massive oversimplifiction so please let others correct me if I'm off base on this.

    great piece, i have 2 without numbers and I think it is a really nice badge when it comes to the design.
