Unfinished Reichsfeuerwehr-ehrenzeichen 1.Stufe ???

Hey guys. What do you make of this? It doesn't ever look like there was a swastika in the center as I see no indications it was removed...

Is this something a GI picked up in a bombed out factory or is it something else?

These were issued postwar as well, starting in 1954...instead of the Swastika they placed the Coat-of-arms of the Fire-district...I googled Feuerwehr ehrenzeichen and found a similar badge with a coat of arms...It is awarded in silver and gold grade......hope this helps.

I just read the postwar pieces are actually made by S&L...so that leaves them out. My mistake with the rzm, just noticed it...

I can't help with this badge as I know little about them or the signs of a fake but one observation is that the enamelling on TR awards is always high quality and the surface is smooth.
Looking at the second photo where the light catches the left hand arm, you can see the enamel dips below the base metal separations on the ends of the flames. I would always look twice at a supposed genuine piece that has sunken enamel or conversely, raised enamel.

A while back when I was looking at an award such as this I was told these were post war fakes. This one was probably never finished.

In addition to what has been said above, allow me to add that a Fire Brigade Decoration would not have had RZM-type marks anyway.

Oh, and, as always, the idiot fakers couldn't be bothered to use Umlauts. (Notice "FUR" instead of "FÜR" and "LOSCHWESEN" instead of "LÖSCHWESEN".
