i bought this at a local military antique store however it looks like a war merit cross but not quite it just looks weird does anyone know anything about this?

Looks good, and I hope it was reasonably priced. The 'War Merit Medal' was awarded
to civilians - it should not be too hard to find an original ribbon for it, and also
an original 'Ostfront Medal' as well.........

According to one source, this medal was awarded mainly for work in munitions factories.

My nephew bought one recently - $5 without a ribbon - however it was lightly
corroded in spots. Very common, these are normally found for $20-$30
in excellent condition with correct ribbon.........

I reckon these are too cheap to really bother about faking too much. I got my mint example still in its packet for $35 or thereabouts.
