Hi Marc, I think it's more likely to be a "13" or "15". The slant on the first number looks more like the cap on a "1" than a "7". Hopefully someone can advise you correctly. Stewy

Friedrich Orth "15" I think. If the first digit was a "7" I don't think the top would be visible in relation to the second digit. That would make the "3" (second digit) huge compared to the first. I may be wrong. Stewy

Hi Stewy,
That's my point about the "cross bar" on the 7 used by mm 73 !!
That would make this stamp half a 7 and half a 3 :-)
Mm 13 also use a kind of "cross bar" on the 1, but IMO not as prominent as this !?

Could you post examples of what you mean. I'm intrigued, and you may have a point. You have a better understanding of these awards than me. Great discussion, lead on my friend. This is what the forum's about, I'm not familiar with "73"s but they're quite rare. Not an OST seen too often. Stewy

Hello,
the piece is quite easy to see the design.
It is definitely a "13 - Gustav Brehmer".
This is indicated by the "S" on the back.
This is tilted in the "15" to the left.
The "15" and the leaves on the sword on the back are not required.
Here's to compare my "13".
And a pic from "15"
And the "73" in the book "Winterschlacht im Osten" is not "73" but also a "13" because the author has missed from the book.
Hallo Steinar,
Thanks a lot for the detailed explanation
I was obviously fooled by the wrong info in the mentioned book !!
Does it mean, taht the describtion of the mm73 in the book is wrong too ??
This is my other mm 13, I see that details are the same (but so it is in the book !)
One thing learned; dont nessesarily trust info, just because it is in a book
MFG
Marc
PS Have you found any other faults in the book ???

Hello,
I'm happy to help if I can.
Yes in the book is as a producer "73" number "13" displayed. So "73" is wrong!
There are in the book a few mistakes but I now can not tell, I'm not at home.
