whats youre opinion about the dark Cloth ?

In my opinion the paper backing is incorrect for Wurster produced schildes, it's smooth and not got the leather grain embossed into it as seen on all original Wurster schildes, whether Demjansk or Krim. This leads me to doubt the backing cloth as well, it may well be a put together piece.

i think it´s not a " put together Piece" , i think ist period made.
i have looked under the dark Paperback is the typical Paperback for
this shields.

In that case it was likely applied the wrong way around then wasn't it? I can only make assumptions and offer opinions on the evidence initially supplied, as contrary to my avatar I'm not particularly psychic, though it helps in this game sometimes.....
