    Welcome to the forum !!

Must admit there are some issues with your documents , firstly when the Ostmedaille was awarded in october 1942 the II SS Panzer Korps didn't exist it wasn't formed until June 1943 in October 1942 it was still the SS-Panzer-Generalkommando , the Deutsche Kreuz in Gold doc seems to be of very poor quality and i have no idea why Himmler would have signed it when it was issued and signed by Keitel , plus i can't find any record of a Alfred Hanser is the list of SS Deutsche Kreuz in Gold Winners.

I would very much like to see close ups of the stamp and signatures on the Deutsche Kreuz in Gold Document ,

    cheers

Thank you Paul! I wondered about this, mainly the DKiG document, it just didn't seem right to me, poor quality and to have Himmler's signature didn't ring true either. I hope it gets posted down in the Paperwork forum for some closer scrutiny.........

Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....

Really don't like the signatures on the Deutsche Kreuz in Gold document they do appear to be contrived , although no expert on his signature my feeling is the Himmler sig is definately not correct and the document should not have the stamp of the Reichsfuhrer SS on them as they were issued and stamped from OKH , have these documernts come directly from your grandfather ??

The remains of the pin on the ASA are interesting they're usually a wire pin. Whereas yours looks like the lost part of your pin is missing, almost like it's broken away from a loop. Similar to S&L (& others) type barrell hinges. Stewy
