Germany, of the era, used scripts that are abit different from the modern day script. If you think the Printed writing is bad, to Hand write, they used an even more unusual script called Sütterlin. It evolved from ancient Gothic script and was first used in Prussia about 1915 and became prevalent throughout Germany in the coming next 2 decades. Oddly, the Nazi Party actually tried to get Rid of it in 1941, but it persisted regardless. Today, few people can read it, much less read it Easily. Thankfully, by the 1970's, it had all but vanished from use.

True, Stewy...as I said, both translations are acceptable. But, just fooling around with several online translators(Google, etc), I'm still seeing "Abzeichen" being translated to "Badges".
