If the cracks are stress fractures formed over time after application of the eagle then the war-metal wreath must be very brittle. They certainly add character!

Jeez, the poor thing looks like it's about to fall apart at any moment.
It's very pretty!
I am sure guys, that i will it not often taste. And when, than very careful only with gloves.I think, the "stress" it is out of the material complete. So i believe, that the condition will be not more worse.
Do you intend on displaying the badge and if so have you given any thought on how to display it in such away as to stabilizing it's condition .
By the way very nice badge stress cracks and all just adds character IMO

Knowing that almost anything of value can and will be faked in today`s world it is almost satisfying to know that the only thing that can`t be reproduced is aged metal fatigue and the wear and patina of an almost 70 year object . Thanks for the great pics , it`s been a pleasure to see your badge

Across that angry or that glimmering sea...
Great Badge Joe with a lot of character. Wish I could add something like that to my collection in the future, regards, Juan
