Yeah looking at the catch from different angles it does look like the Round Wire catch that's been bent looks like it's been bent down also as ill show on my pic.
It looks the same as the Round Wire catch i posted from the book.
Also i don't know exactly how soldering works but it normally makes a mess and the catch does look very clean around the base.
Been a good discussion.

Whether banged up or done on purpose, it's been there from the beginning. Soldering can get messy but if done carefully / professionally many times you can not see it. But you need to prep the surface and that is what you can typically see.
In this case the original guilding is still present and on top of the solder so it's all legit!
