    Hello All,

For Reichsbahn Eagle owners -- For curiosity reasons, does anyone have the D & R that surrounded these Eagles? They seem to be extremely rare. I never saw these come up for sale and I only saw one example of these that Capt. William McCormick of the 722nd Railway Operating Battalion Co. brought to the US.

    Thanks!

Have them seen only twice from a collector.
One such "D" and "R" set will be shown in my coming book in detail (you will find
them on page 93), along with the technical official drawing (page 92).
They are nicely marked at the reverse! Various photos do show the use at trains
and trucks, as well as various show them as a decal!

I also have a photo from Mc. Cormick and and eagle in the box as send to his wife
    (pages 16 and 17).

I guess the D & R would be quite the find...the Holy Grail of railway eagle collectors.

I assume these are the pictures from the McCormick Piece you are speaking of? They once were in the possession of Oakleaf Militaria a few years back. Attached pictures for reference.

I would imagine that only an obsessive completist of a GI would have taken the time and trouble to pry off the DR as well as the eagle! I don't think that I've ever seen a set of them for sale Anywhere!

If the letters were in the box, which McCormick did send to his wife,
is a question. Maybe another shipment, if so! But they are anyway rare......

This answer was send to me today:
The DR came positioned in the crate in such a manner that it left no doubt in my mind
that it was sent with the eagle from McCormick to his wife.

I would have taken it one step further than McCormick. I would have kept the fastening nuts for both the eagle and the D & R....that's the mechanical engineer in me...obsessive compulsive disorder

Notice the GAL-MG-SI is inverted on the D & R.

I would bet that many houses in Germany have these sitting in their attics.
