Hello from Texas!
Hello! My name is Robyn. This is my first militaria forum to join, and I'm not sure what took me so long to become a member. I have been a militaria collector for over 20 years, beginning at 11 years old when I bought my first Civil War minie ball from Fort Sumter. From that point, realizing I could own a piece of history and hold it in my hands, I was hooked! Every bit of money I saved went to militaria. When I was younger, I started by collecting Civil War artifacts; however, I quickly moved into World War II items because of my interest in my grandfathers' and great-uncles' experiences as well as my grandmother's stories of being a land girl in England (then a war bride). Though I do collect from American Revolution to Vietnam, my main focus is World War II. I admit, I'm not a focused collector on the types of items I buy. It's more about what my current obsession is or what I've stumbled across. If I had to pinpoint anything, I'd say I focus mainly on US items, followed by German, Japanese, and British. The types of items though, really ranges...currency, uniforms, edged weapons, homefront, firearms, drop leaflets, D-Day items. Anything, really. Proud to say I'm in the process of buying my first WWII M1 Garand, which has been a longtime desire of mine! History is my passion, and I love to research, dig in, and learn all I can about the items I collect. I'm a teacher, so any chance I get to use my collection or knowledge to educate others is what makes it all worth it. I only wish teaching paid more so that I could buy more items, haha!
I look forward to using the forum and especially gaining knowledge from all of you! Thank you.
