    Here are a couple of dress bayonets I purchased this past weekend at my favorite monthly flea market. Both have almost mint blades with Eickhorn's 1935-42 "squirrel" logo, so shiny I couldn't avoid photographing the reflection of my camera! Unfortunately the scabbards and frogs aren't as nice as the bayonets themselves.Feurwehr Faschinemesser by Eikhorn

    More evidence scabbards really do protect blades. The Eickhorn trade mark is the "coiled tail" version, which is not seen as much as the "without coil" version and probably was used in the early days of the change to this trademark. In other words, probably 1935/36.
