What a nice piece. I can't see any real signs of deterioration at all. Quite often earlier pattern brown frogs are found on these which were for other bayonets and are a little too large. Whether the older types were actually used in some rural areas of TR forces is probably a matter of conjecture and as we know there is always something we don't know until we do know!
However, here you have what I would regard as the perfect mate for your bayonet.
Co-incidentally when I was stationed in Fallingbostel, Walsrode was my local high street shopping venue!
