Looks like there is some kind of record for your guy in the Brandenberg archives, its a public record as well so you might be lucky. This has to be your guy as he's from Altlandsberg, specifically a town called Belzig near Brandenberg which is a suberb of Berlin.

I guess we could assume from Malcolm's story that Zschinschky was also a NSDAP member.

The reverse of the blade should look like this, might be an earlier maker mark. Also the dedication on mine.

    Hello Gary.

I have just read your postings. Thank you very much for all your helpful input. It is greatly appreciated.

Regarding the story. The Captain apparently told his family the deceased had been the local Burgemeister. However, I am sure he could just as easily been any type of government official, and the nomenclature was generically applied.

Once again everyone, thank for all your help.

    Kind regards, Malcolm.

    Malcolm,

What an absolutely beautiful and rare blade! The acquisition story only adds to it's allure and the fact the original owner has likely been identified makes it superlative. Thank you for sharing it with us.

    Gary,

    Great work mate!
