About the dagger: in the photo provided on the booklet, he has the single bird in the middle of the field of background. I cannot, however distinguish if it has the red and white trim (in this case, a darker grey) that would distinguish him as an Unteroffizier (Equivalent of USAAF Staff Sergeant). I believe he holds the rank of Flieger (Equivalent of USAAF Private) He is not, however, a Senior NCO, at least from my knowledge. However, I am probably wrong, seeing as I am just going of my memory off ranks here. I'm sorry I couldn't identify this item earlier, just a stupid mistake. Any clarification on the ranks will be greatly appreciated!
Hi Guys, in the photo contained in the DRL sports badge book, he is indeed a private. If the dagger was his, he must have been promoted.
I will post a really nice wedding portrait photo I have (once I do a pic) showing an NCO wearing the dagger along with some more details.
Cheers, Ade.
As promised, a photo from my collection, of the dagger in wear by a senior NCO. And for good measure he even wears the DRL sports badge.
Cheers, Ade.
very nice ade!!!
Thanks for the clarification!
here is a picture we call him pop pop
here are 2 more..
If you compare the faces, they are the same person. Look at the shape of the mouth in particular.
Cheers, Ade.
