Auschwitz prisoner photo, how common are they?

Some examples of these "Auschwitz photographs" are available on the market. They tend to be the post war copies that were presented to family members, and not the original prints as made by the Erkennungsdienst (identification department). I believe that your example shown above, is a reprint of one such copy.

Here are a few examples of vintage photo-prints that were produced by the Auschwitz archives but also includes one rare original camp photo of an Auschwitz inmate. Also attached is the reverse overprint.

That is a fine augmentation to the thread. Note the print mark on the reverse. Thanks for showing 4thskorpion.

Interesting knowledge here, good thing i just started collecting and that i found this forum early, havent spent all my money on fakes yet

look at the extremely dark and sloppy contrast. this is indicative of a modern copy.

you won't see this to this extant in the vintage copies and certainly not the originals.
