Big SS/wermacht feldpost lot, all to the same women!
Hi! I recently got the big Feldpost LOT i bought. It's about 100 feldpost, some pictures, postcards, and telegrams all to the same women. It is supposed to be about 50 SS feldpost and 50 Feldpost form the wermacht, some frome officers. I was wondering if you could help me with he feldpost numbers. Also, because i am new to Feldpost i am having a hard time understanding which of this 100 feldpost lot is from SS? Do i see that from the number? Here is the feldpost numbers and some info.
All of the feldpost is sent to a Frau Margit Schlünsen (later Margit Koenig). Mannsteinstr 36 bei. Schluensen Hamburg 20.
Most of the feldpost is from Gef. Sachau. Feldpost number 22949. Here is the dates on the feldpost stamps from Gef. Sachau:

Re: Big SS/wermacht feldpost lot, all to the same women!
Thanks mate! Is any of theese units SS? I am trying to google the names but i find it hard to find info, where is a good place to research the units? Can anyone find out what units the other feldpost numbers was?
-
Re: Big SS/wermacht feldpost lot, all to the same women!
None of those units are SS related. If you can read German the best site is Lexikon der Wehrmacht although you can always use a Google translator to get the general information.
As for the feldpost ending 772 it could be one of many.

Re: Big SS/wermacht feldpost lot, all to the same women!
Well, Walter Sternberger whose mail was returned due to him being killed has an entry in the Volksbund database which lists details for German soldiers/sailors/airmen killed or missing in action.
It lists his name, rank, birth date & place, date and place of death and where he is currently buried. In Sternberger's case his body has never been recovered from its field grave so it remains somewhere in the vicinity of Gorodok/Witebsk in Belarus after he was killed at Kormatinez.
