Sorry mate, I certainly would have posted your name or not used it at all if I had know the image was from a book!
The image has been removed and replaced. Please accept my apology.

    Kind Regards,

Glenn, Stig, and Harry, thank you for the nice compliments!

Glenn I love KZ items too, and I look forward to seeing your new acquisitions soon, sounds like you have a great new source.

Here are a few pre-Anschluss items you may not have seen before, from my personal collection.

The first two day badges are from 1931 and 1932 Wien, Gauparteitag, the gold one (Hitler Bewegung) is extremely rare.

The other two are donation (1 schilling and 2 schillings) badges from the "illegal time" in Austria.

Lovely and very rare items --- I find this to be a very interesting time in the evolution of National Socialism as well... also always nice to see some interest expressed in the smaller early organizations! Thanks or sharing!

Great Hitlerbewegung bade too! Got the membership book to go with that one? I'd love one to go with my HB badge

Thank you Slados! I've studied Hitler's NS movement since a kid, but most of the Austrian NS history is relatively new to me and I find it simply fascinating. I just started reading a book "HITLER and the FORGOTTEN NAZIS; A History of Austrian National Socialism" by, Bruce E. Pauley, 1981. Hardly through the first chapter yet, but very interesting and revealing so far.

I do like the Hitler Bewegung badge, one of the nicest designed day badges ever created IMO, but I'm a little prejudice. One must be very careful as there are some fakes out there being sold as originals of these HB tinnies. The tell tale sign's are that originals are always die stamped, crisply, with thin metal and quite golden colored. Fakes are cast with much thicker metal, usually with a heavy, wide pin attachment and much darker (not golden) colour. There are other differences too.

I unfortunately don't have a Hitler Bewegung, NSDAP Membership Book from the early years, though I've got one spotted (1932) that I'm going to try and get if it does not sell in the next few months. I wish you luck finding your Wien HB day badge.

This is not a NS document, but they were highly anti Jewish as the National Socialists. A Voelkish, Pan-German club where anti-semitic members from many political parties could meet together.

This is a Spendschein (emergency money) note from the "Schutzvereines 'Antisemitenbund'" dating April 16, 1920.
From what little I've read of this group, they formed in 1919 in Austria and were allowed to remain operational during the "illegal time" from 1934-1938, perhaps 1939.

They published a newspaper "The Iron Broom" that was sort of a precursor to "Der Stuermer" until 1932.

Thanks for sharing those rare items!

Allow me just one observation: The actual name of this association is "Schutzverein Antisemitenbund".

[The ending "-es" seen here ("Schutzvereines ...") only results from it being in the genitive case. ("Ortsgruppe Amstetten des Schutzvereines Antisemitenbund" = "Local Group Amstetten of the Schutzverein Antisemitenbund".)

Hope I don't come across as a "Grammar Nazi".

It interesting to note that the founder (or at least one of the founders) of the Antisemitenbund and the paper "Der Eiserne Besen" was Karl-Maria Wiligut ("Weisthor"), who would eventually become "Himmler's Rasputin" and close advisor in all things runic and Germanic.

In a CV for his SS personnel file dated 16th May 1937, he wrote:

"Ich gründete in Salzburg den Antisemitenbund und die Zeitung 'eiserner Besen', bezichtigte die Juden und Freimaurer öffentlich der begangenen Verbrechen und hatte also nunmehr nicht nur mit der Romkirche, sondern auch diese beiden zu Todfeinden."

["In Salzburg, I founded the Antisemitenbund and the newspaper 'eiserner Besen', publically accused the Jews and Freemasons of the crimes they had committed and now had not only the Roman Church as a mortal enemy, but these two as well."]

HPL2008, thank you for your interest and the German grammar lesson! I don't speak German and need all of the help I can get.

I had not read about the Rune Meister Wiligut being one of the founder's of the Antisemitenbund, very interesting. The "Iron Broom" is a fitting name for his anti-Cath., Jewish and Freemason newspaper, expressing his belief that they should be "swept away."
