    Gents

Years ago my brother bought a house from a Ex Spitfire fighter pilot who had sadly passed away. Under the stairs he had left these maps. They are of the UK and dated 1941. The maps are of the UK with both English and German writing. here are a few pics that I have taken quickly for reference, I will get more pics at the weekend in natural light. Any information would be great thumbsup

    Thanks

Yes mate, my brother bought them round for me tonight, he does not want them. The pilot was a bloke called Mr Mycroft, he had a hardware shop in Clay Cross, he used to sell toys and as a kid I used to go in and look at all the action men. I am going to try and find out some more info about him

You can clearly see the Age/Tobaco (?) on these. Do any of them Cover East Anglia?

I reckon he could have "liberated" these from a crashed german aircraft, who knows , its possible he even shot the plane down, now that would be some fantastic provenance, plus direct veteran history

It appears they are either waterproofed or waxed which may suggest they could be a set of navigator plotting maps for either bomber crew or naval vessels, and come to think of it they may be too big for aircraft as they are rolled which could suggest theyre from a ship or perhaps E-Boat or U-Boat

Yes Dave, the maps do have some form of wax coating or waterproof coating of some sort on them. As to whether E Boat or U Boat I would not know? If the maps read Fleigerkarte which means flying maps in German I would presume they were for flying, maybe from a Heinkel bomber crew he shot down?
