A friend of mine is asking me to help him sell some pieces of his collection. The first item he showed me was this framed document to Erich Stoffregen who earned the Ritterkreuz.

Can anyone comment on this document? I know the photo is poor... but does it stand a chance of being authentic? Is this a known type of document that all Ritterkreuz recipients received?

As always, thanks in advance for your time and consideration! <3 WRF!

As mentioned it is impossible to give an opinion from that photo. One of the tricks fakers use is to put items in frames as it makes authenticating items harder. And sometimes the asking price can be a give away as well.

Really impossible to tell from this photo it needs to be out of the frame and close up shots taken.

Here is a page from Hauptmann Stoffregen's Wehrpass with the entry for the Ritterkreuz...14 August 1942....so the data on the document is correct.

It seems like this document at least stands a chance... I'll ask my friend to remove it from the frame for additional photos.

    Thanks, gents!

I would agree to have it properly assessed it needs a lot more images I just wasn't sure if the original poster had passed on more images to members.

My reason for asking is a would love to get images to put with Stoffregens group.

I'm afraid Mappe's have always been a bit to pricy for my wallet.
