I am about 90% sure that the card fake or I should say a post war reprint.I must have 500 Hoffman cards in my collection and they look nothing like this one.There is no minor yellowing on the back and the photo is not on the correct card stock,there were vast quantities of these cards printed after the war and there are even more printed now.I have seen sheets of 32 cards all different printed on one giant card stock,they are for sale on ebay and epier.The very best way to insure that a postcard is real is Period stamp,canceled with appropriate date ,message and recipient (90 %) in German.If your card had that it would be very valuable without it it would cost a great deal of money to have that signature verified

Looking on an inscribed copy of his book I would say its a forged on. The last name is not in the right style with a tendency to the lower left side. See enclosed pic to compare (its from 1926) at the moment on sale.
