Hi,
Would someone try and see the reason why this visa was issued?
Next to 'Zweck'...
Thanks,
Neil.

The visa was issued by the Swiss for participation for an international conference for "Rettungswesen," that took place in July 1939. "Rescue" is how might translate the phrase, but rescue of what is the question. I am sure one could figure this out, too, with a little work in Google or with the Swiss agencies of the era.
The visa was issued by the Swiss consulate in Lodz in Poland.
I wonder if the person returned in time for the war?
All interesting and compelling material you show.
My mother and my grand parents made a grand tour in Europe that summer laden with the portents of war, and were on their way through Ireland when the war started and crossed the Atlantic as the German sank British liners.
I have many of the keep sakes from that trip, including the 16 mm films in color.
It is hard to think that such was 70 years ago.
He got back on July 31. His name, well, same name so I am trying to find out if it is him, as a Ktyn massacre victim from 1940.
Can we see some of them keep sakes? hope it's OK to ask.
Thanks.
Neil.
