**) Gauleiter of the Gau Bayerische Ostmark from 1935 to 1945 and head of the Nationalsozialistischer Lehrerbund (NSLB) [National Socialist Teachers' League] from 1935 to 1943. (In both roles, he was the successor of Hans Schemm who was killed in an airplane crash at Bayreuth on 5th March 1935. Both men were former teachers.)
***) The headquarters and training facility of the NSLB. The building still exists and now houses an electric utility provider's main office for Upper Franconia.
