Hey, wish I could help you but I suddenly have a ton of stuff I can't read.
I can fumble thru some typed things enough to get at least an idea but the script ... no can do.

    Good luck,
    Rudy

I wish I could help, but you'll need a native speaker who was taught how to read that script. I'm excited to learn what it says as well!

Hello could you please scan it in a higher dpi and post it as png looseless. Its written in good old german slueter letters so it's hard to read it for me but I'll ask my grandpa who probably won't have any problems to read it.

Get a larger / clearer copy and I'll translate for you - having an 80 year old German mum does have its benefits I spose!!! She also taught me to write in the old script when I was a youngster.

    German:
    Miesbach, den 12.08.41
    Lieber Hans!

Mai sollen wieder Rekruten in Miesbach kommen.

    Miesbach, 12.08.41
    Dear Hans!

A few days ago I read about the sad news that your father has died. I'm very sorry for your loss.
He died very fast but you were able to see him alive after all.
[the next sentence is a very old and unusual expression, there's no simple translation. Maybe something like: I hope your vacation won't be too hard.]
Hans Hofer und Hans Wagner went on vacation for 4 weeks. At the moment I'm attending cooking classes, I'm already at it for 8 days,
the classes last 14 days. After the course I will apply for vacation too, if we're still here then.
Because tomorrow there is going to be a troop examination for the 5th company. There are merely 21 people left.
Now the instructors get to exercise too. New recruits should arrive in Miesbach until .... of May.
They can't enlist any in our area because otherwise there won't be enough for the farmers.
It is said that the older ones will be enlisted.
Hopefully you'll get an extended vacation.

    Best regards
    Eduard
    See you!
