Interesting SS picture.

I recently picked this up; it was cheap enough so I brought it.

Firstly, can anybody please tell me what you believe the picture to be from. Is it a newspaper cutting or a cheaply produced picture?

Secondly, can somebody give me further information on the SS man, he has an interesting uniform; it reminds me of some sort of foreign volunteer.

It doesn't look like a newspaper cutting to me, but I will leave others to comment on the physical aspects of the picture.

As for the image: He is wearing a Drillich work/fatigue uniform. Nothing particularly points towards a foreign volunteer.

the pixels that can be seen tell me it is from one of the news papers of the period.

there is, on the reverse, an outline of the edges of the image which is on the front. is this because the image is attached to a larger piece of paper? i don't see any evidence of that from the front. the image looks like it's directly printed on the paper. but on the back there is a definite edge like you would see from something being pasted to the front or such as you might see from an image being applied with pressure.
