I think Slados has looked up this soldier and is giving you his service history, ie which regiments he served with between which dates, and making the point that he belonged to a Panzer Regiment.

lol no way this is worth the pound i spent on the letter its interesting
It is the unit info corresponding to the feldpost number written on the envelope --- 27732 F --- your letter was written 17th of May, 1943 so it seems your man would have been a part of 10. SS-Panzergrenadier-Division, soon to be 10. SS-Panzer-Division "Frundsberg". Seems they were in France at this time.
thank you so much for your help so far this is awesome
Thats great information Slados.
Panzergrenadiers are mechanized infantry, (i.e. soldiers who are transported into combat in motorised vehicles).
this is brill i want to know whats in the letter now i now see why people enjoy doing the reseach
The letter is written in 'sütterlinschrift' in English that's sütterlin writing. It is difficult to read, but if you want to know what the ss man wrote, you can find the sütterlin font online and use that to help decipher the letter. It will take some time, I did it my self too with some of my letters.
The letter was written by an SS private named Helmut Heim and sent to one Miss Luise Waller. It says:
"O.U. [= Ortsunterkunft] 17.5.43
Liebe Luise!
Herzlichen Dank für Deinen Brief vom 13.5.,
den ich heute erhielt. Daß es Dir noch gut
geht freut mich.
Will nun für heute schließen.
Es grüßt Dich recht herzlich
Dein Helmut"

Andreas you as always are too kind !
You really need to charge for a translation service as the amount of folk who buy things when they cannot understand a word of German and then need a translation seems to be ever on the increase . I think we need to at least insist that they donate to the forum or become gold members !!

Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader
