Luftwaffe Airfield found
I have just bought this “small” collection and the seller told me it should be from an Luftwaffe Airfield, but he didn´t know from where.
It contains some personal things (cigaretts, shoe polish, knife, Feldpost, action journals from the Squadron, an wind/ angel measurement, the wisor from the cap:
A news paper:
Idar-Oberstein National Montag 19 Maj 1941, also picturing Haupsturmführer Klingenberg (Befehlshaber der Wehrmacht dem SS-Hauptsturmführer Klingenberg, kompaniechef in einem Kradsschützen-Bataillon der Waffen-SS)
A packet of: 125 G Knäckebrot (empty)
A packet of cigarettes: Milde Sorte Austria Tabakwerke AG (empty) (Germany 1942
10 pieces in Sliding Box
Price 4 Rpf/piece = 0.40 RM
Producer Austria Zigarettenfabrik Munich
Trade Mark Owner Austria Tabakwerke
3 packets of cigarettes: One with the year 1943 (all empty)
A metal box with brown shoe polish: Schoencrem Braun (the polish still inside)
A red metal box: Perhaps also polish cream
Metal “ring”: 2. SK 164 Essbesteck (perhaps a permission to have a fork, knife, spoon)
Cigaretten Bilderscheck 41 Hamburg (Buying cigarets and collecting propaganda pictures)
A knife
A letter Feldpost: Feldpost dated 19-10-43, on the letter there is a town perhaps Düsseldorf dated 28-10-43
A small paperbag perhaps for corn or sugar: Diaden corn or sugar paperbag
Some leather stuff
A Luftwaffe visor from the cap
An round disc for wind/ angel measurement: Windwinkel
A lot of papers but a “jigsaw”: The papers describes the “actions” of the squadron. Some of the words on the papers:
Staffeltrupp
m.Gr.W.- Gruppe
Gruppe Groiss
Zug Ahlborn
Zug vogler
Rommelfangen (perhaps describing Rommel)
Some of the papers dated:
21.09.44, 4-5.10.44
Nice group of relics - did they provide any photos of them being excavated? Easy to forget in the excitement but goes such a long way to proving the provenance ( and IMO adding to the overall presentation )
