Interesting set of original Peenemünde rocket construction documents up for auction amongst some great space exploration lots
66. Peenemünde. A group of six documents related to rocket construction, four addressed to Demag AG of Duisburg, prime contractors for the V-2, 28 February 1942 - 9 March 1945 Six single sheets, 15 x 21cm (6 x 8 ¼ in) to 30 x 21cm (11 ¾ x 8 ¼ in), typescript in German, browned, hole-punched at left edge, various stamps and manuscript annotations Most items are orders for, or enquiries about, rocket parts. The earliest is sent from Bauleitung der Luftwaffe Peenemunde, others from Heimat-Artillerie-Park, Karlshagen, the rocket facility near Peenemunde, Elektromechanische Werke GMBH, Karlshagen, a cover name for the Peenemunde facility, and Wasserbau-Versuchanstalt, Kochelsee to where the V-2 development programme was moved after the RAF bombing of August 1943. There is also an enquiry from Demag to Peenemunde about high pressure compressors and a letter from the office of the Sonderausschuss Maschinen und Apparate fur die chemische Industrie to the Berlin firm Engelke & Huth headed Führer-Notprogramm, concerning the Geilenberg-Programm, the plan to revive the petroleum industry and provide rocket fuel. Included with the lot is an aerial photograph of Peenemunde before the first bombing raid.
