I actually wrote to the old boy several years ago and he posted me two autographs back, one where he is standing in uniform at Wolfschanze and the other a promotional postcard of his book, Der Letzte Zeuge. That was around 2009 I think. I put a ten euro note in the letter I sent and a self addressed envelope. I put ten euros in the letter because I could'nt get a German stamp to put on the self addressed envelope here in Perth and I thought the poor old bloke must get loads of requests like mine where he forks out for a stamp so I knew I could at least cover the cost of the stamp and buy him a beer for his efforts, If I didn't get a reply I knew I would only lose ten euros and I could live with that but if he did reply, which he did, I knew I'd have something really good!

Great story! Wish I knew he did that then. I knew of him from interviews on the history channel but didn't know he was so friendly like that. I 'll have a drink for him, Cheers!
