Whatever its just an opinion.
Whoever penciled in "Rostov" on the leave-page wasn't familiar with German spelling...when all they had to do was look at the other entry, lol...
cheers, Glenn
Sounds good 8)
Now, any ideas on why Stalingrad was added then?
Tnx!
At a guess to make it more valuable!...
hmmm...if so, then a real shame!
Yes, they saw the dates when he was on leave, which are within the Stalingrad period and added Stalingrad thinking it was his duty station, when in fact it is the page for Leave Entries...Hope that makes sense? But it's apparent to me that this has been played with. Although you can erase the pencil and have an honest regular Soldbuch I suppose...!
cheers, Glenn
Still, Rostov is legit I presume...maybe we can find more by looking into it...
Thanks again u all!!!
He was with the Wirtschaftskommando in Rostow, which is an economic administration related unit...
so they doctored it up in the hopes that a non-german collector would see "Stalingrad" next to the dates that he was actually on leave and think they had a rare Soldbuch...it's all about the money with some of these people, friend...
cheers, Glenn
True...this does irritate!
We are vulnerable due to our passion to history and memorizing it by collecting...
