Interesting thread, Like Paul at a glance I assumed these were possibly from your Collection W....However I see why you posted as you did. My opinion on the Signed Hitler Document is that it looks contrived, Its more a Gut feeling on the ageing and appearance of the Document.

I think the biggest and most obvious fault with the Hitler document is the fact that it is an impossible document. There was never a Höherer SS- und Polizeiführer Lublin in existence at any time.
Odilo Globocnik was appointed as SS- und Polizeiführer im Distrikt Lublin by Himmler on 9 November 1939. He held this post until relieved by Himmler on 16 August 1943 and he was appointed as Höhere SS- und Polizeiführer Operationszone Adriatisches Küstenland (the correct title) on 13 September 1943. During his appointment as SSPF Lublin, he was subordinate to the HSSPF Ost, based in Krakau.
This illustrates clearly that knowledge of the history behind a document is just as important as assessment of the signature and paper.

To this day, I am not sure if the Austrian was an unfortunate victim of a scam or whether he was gearing up to selling me items from the collection and making me a victim. In a funny way I hope it was the former as I rather liked him and I'd hate to think he was dishonest. I do know that he obtained my name from a very good friend and respectable historian in Austria who was genuinely shocked when I told him of my doubts.

I remember the case of the dealer in question. Without wishing to speak ill of the dead, this was actually typical of much of the material he used to sell. His widow now runs his former business.

dear sir, i stumbled over this thread by pure coincidence. i´m quite sure the whole collection is a fake. i should know because my grandmother was odilo globocniks halfsister. most of the globocnik-family left europe after the war to australia and southafrica. of the few remaining in austria and germany i know - to my best knowledge - everyone. nobody ever mentioned these items.

i registered only to provide you with this information and will delete my account immedeatly, as i´m neither a collector or a trader. the few items my family still have are not for sale. o.g. is nobody we are proud of and no one wants to make a profit with his terrible part of history.
