Surrender order for german forces in Paris 1944
Hi,
This is the only one rescaped order to surrender for the german forces in paris 8/25/1944.
In 1990 I meet the interprete of gen. Leclerc and after 2 years of discussions, he gives me his uniforme, helmet, dog-tags, decorations, furnishment, papers and a ink pen, the sword hanger of von Choltitz .ETC..ETC..
In the papers, the order of surrender of the german forces in Paris (France)
This order is signed by gen. von Choltitz commander of the german forces in paris in 1944.
Twenty of such papers are written: this is the alone rescaped.
On the photos you can see the order, his US helmet, a german general visor cap (Erel), a photo with general von Choltitz seating and the interprete lieutenant A.Betz.
Gen. Leclerc and von Choltitz used the ink pen on the photo to sign the reddition act of the german forces in Paris.
The sword hanger is this on of gen. von Choltitz.
Best regards
Carfin.

Very nice! I happen to collect fountain pens and see that the pen is a rather fancy 1920s lever-filled Waterman 452 with a sterling silver overlay and 14k fine nib.

Re: Surrender order for german forces in Paris 1944
Im no expert on Dog tags but-I have some wartime French tags--and those tags (pictured in this thread) look like American Dog Tags--and i have some of those belonging to my Father. Anyway, if the guy has American-style Tags? then would he have been a member of the Free French Forces (Army) during the recapture of the City? That's the only way I am aware of that he could have had American style Dog Tags. The French tags I have are round in shape and about the size of a US. Quarter.

Re: Surrender order for german forces in Paris 1944
Hi,
Thank you for congrats.
The US dog tags are distribued to the majority of the members of the French Army of Liberation; they were mostly équiped with US weapons , furnishment & vehicles. But most of this soldiers hold their old french dog tags used in 1939/1940.
Best regards from Alsace , France.
