These maps were in a mapcase that looks like it was damaged by body fluids, blood? Maps are quite possibly post war as I see no eagles and swastikas anywhere, but... they are not dated. Does anyone recognize landmarks, this Winter Garten event? Also included a few pics of the mapcase, even though this isn't the section for that. The leather does look like something strange happened in a few places, I seem to remember stories of blood destroying leather?
I have no idea what the sling pic is doing there, and I can't get rid of it, in fact in's not in my text, nor was it uploaded by me. It is from my files, but was nowhere near these pics...
German military maps don't usually have any Swastikas on them. They are commonly marked as Heereskarte or some similar designation. These all look like civilian maps. Grosser Berlin or Greater Berlin suggests war time to me or just prior. Recall what happened to Berlin after the war? NH
I like them! These are really cool items to have and you can have a lot of fun researching landmarks. I'm certain now after s closer look that these are all pre-war. At some point, tourist maps with landmarks on them would have ceased production. Clues for dates include landmarks, adverts and the art style utilized in layout. I'm guessing 1930s. NH
Wow, awesome. I'll snap a few closer pics. They might violate the 200kb limit though... ;-)
PS Of course I knew (I should have said) they weren't military, or what they're doing in that map case I don't know. I was just hoping they weren't post war. I'll lay em back out for some detailed landmark shots.
Back soon ;-)

Ok, here's the first map, all the shots of the detailed city map (not the first 5 or 6 pics of the obverse) are taken starting top left, then bottom left, middle top, middle bottom, top right, bottom right, and then a few closer details going back towards the left. Having a devil of a time putting pics on the site "the correct way", not only it jumbles them up something awful, but they also lose their original file names, and get numbered sequentially, but totally not in the correct planned order... Take a lot of straightening out to get them back in the correct order and evenly spaced... Click on the pics to view full sized.
