    Guys,

A bit of paperwork today including 2 newspapers one is arty farty, the other the black corp SS both from 1944.

They were all together with a group of family type paperwork, copy of ground book etc.

There were also two docs from 1870 war era If anyone has any ideas? Help???

A short gas mask can painted sand dated 36 but the paint is old?

Last but not least a very nice photo album complete and unmessed with (if such a word exists), shows a soldiers career through the ranks from 36 to 44 with some post war photos so I assume he survived.. Has a few of knocked out vehs including a British tank so the caption reads, although I don't recognise it?

    Regards

    Jock

    Cheers Paul,

Is there an expert you know that I can ask about the 1870 era stuff , they appear to be two award docs that have been in a frame at some point? The paperwork appears to be from a single family and the bloke who sold it complete with the two newspapers did so for the price of a beer. If it was his family history then I think he is an idiot. Thank god for idiots!

    Morning Jock,

Your right one of them is for the Franco Prussian war and the other for 1866 , not sure what campaign that was ?

    Hi Jock,

The tank in question is an A9 Cruiser Mk1 of the 1st Armoured Division. Here's a photo of another knocked out in Calais. I think there were only 30-40 sent over to France, and all were lost.

    Regards, Ned.
