Re: What do you make of these papers
That is what they are. Those are my fathers POW release papers.
He was in Russian POW camp and said that when he got handed those papers he had
3 days and nights to walk to were it was safe. He spent the days in watery ditches and moved at
night. That is why they are in such bad shape.
I'm just happy that since I found this site I've been picking his brain more and he's finding things
and remembering things. I feel like I'm doing a little something to preserve history.
They may be 'common' but I'll take a bet there are some major stories behind them.
Thank you,
Rudy

Still working on that and other things. I talk on the phone with him once a week and after a while
the conversation gets side tracked. He lives alone so I can see why he does not want to just talk
about another time when he felt alone. I plan to visit him soon and we'll have more time to talk.
I'm also working on info about my 2 Grandfathers. His served in WW1 and the other that turned up
MIA close to the end of the war. (WW2)
The Old Man as I respectfully call him will be 85 so I don't want to push him to hard, yet I feel it's now
or never to find things out.
