I must admit I have a small stash of items that serve as constant reminders to spend more time on research and thereby spend less money adding to that sorry stash.

sometimes i feel like staying away from SS items as they are so faked,& reproduced, but its the thrill of the hunt, ive learned that if you want that top shelf piece you have to be willing to pay the big bucks.

There a number of very experienced and knowledgable collectors of SS militaria on the forum who are very generous in sharing their invaluable expertise for no more than a thank you.

The most astounding and super rare 3rd Reich book I have personally handled was amongst a collection of books taken from Himmler's personal home library by a GI. I am a librarian and was working at the University of Arizona library when the box of books came in as a donation to the U of A special collections department. I picked up the book on top and was amazed to find that it was the Reich's official list of banned and approve books. It was signed by Himmler in pencil and liberally annotated in the margins by Himmler, again in pencil on almost every page. Truly an incredibly rare volume and available for study, along with many of Himmler's other books at the U of A's special collections library in Tucson.
A chunk of Hitler's personal library ended up in the U.S., too, and there is a book on the topic which I will enclose.
